Cut-to-Size Travertine
Cut-to-size travertine from Saturnia for architects, contractors and stone buyers who need Italian slabs, panels, stairs, thresholds and custom packages produced to project dimensions.

Cut-to-size travertine, from quarry selection to packing
Cut-to-size is the part of a travertine order where most of the project pressure lives. The piece has to land at the right millimetre on the right pallet on the right day, and it has to read as the same stone the architect signed off on at sample stage. Saturnia handles that thread end to end, from block reservation in our Tuscan quarry to labelled, crated pieces ready for installation.
Typical packages include facade panels, floor pieces, wall cladding, stair treads and risers, thresholds, bathroom components, fireplace surrounds and bespoke hospitality or retail elements. Pieces can be supplied loose, pre-numbered to a fixing plan, or palletised by elevation so site teams open one crate at a time.
Materials, cuts and finishes you can compare
Bianco Maremma, Montemerano Classico and Etrusco each behave differently once they are cut to size. Bianco Maremma keeps a calm ivory field across large panels. Montemerano Classico holds a warm, classic travertine movement that suits hospitality and lobby work. Etrusco gives a darker, more architectural grey line.
Before approval, buyers usually want to see the same piece in vein cut and cross cut, filled and unfilled, honed and brushed. We can prepare comparison samples and current slab photographs so the decision is made on real material, not a render.
- Vein cut for directional, linear grain
- Cross cut for calm, cloud-like fields
- Filled and honed for floors and high-traffic surfaces
- Unfilled and brushed for texture-led feature pieces
- Sandblasted or bush-hammered for outdoor and pool work
Tolerances, fixing and packing
Cut-to-size pieces are produced to drawings or a written cutting list, with thickness chosen for the application: roughly 20 mm for most floors and walls, 30 mm or more for facade panels and outdoor pavers, custom thicknesses for stair treads, copings and bespoke architectural elements.
Edges can be straight, chamfered, eased, bullnosed or mitred. Fixing-friendly details such as anchor slots, kerfs and rebates are produced in the workshop rather than improvised on site, which keeps the install schedule predictable.
What to send for a useful quote
The faster cut-to-size quotes are the ones that arrive with a clear brief. The team can respond with sample and slab-photo next steps before production is confirmed, and flag anything that should be re-thought before it becomes a site problem.
- Drawings, schedules or a written cutting list
- Preferred material and finish, with alternatives if open
- Thickness, edge profile and any fixing requirements
- Quantities, packing preference and delivery destination
- Target dates for samples, production and arrival on site
