Lorenzo Raco, Community Relations and Project Manager

Buongiorno and welcome. I’m Lorenzo Raco, Community Relations and Project Manager for Saturnia Travertini Italia. I’m Italo-Australian, born in the local area but grew up in Australia before returning 10 years ago, after finishing university. The love for this land brought me back and I’m honoured to have joined STI in a role which allows me act as a bridge between the company, which is so important for the territory I live in, and the local community, in all its forms. It’s highly motivating for me to be part of a company that not only provides employment and support for many local families but also to become a part of the renaissance of this quarry to the public at large in a process which will rightly position the ‘cava di Montemerano’ as one of the crowning jewels, and a source of immense pride, for the territory and its inhabitants.

The love for this land brought me back

After years of postgraduate study, university teaching and work in an array of fields, I joined STI in 2018 bringing a completely different vision and focus to what are usually considered quarry roles. Through my work we are opening up the quarry to the public with a series of socio-cultural events at an international standard, developing innovative and interesting approaches to make this ‘much more than a quarry’ and investing in cutting-edge technology to treat the amazing stone we have with the best craftmanship possible. I invite you visit us and see first-hand what we doing here at Saturnia Travertini Italia.
